AVONDALE, Arizona – January 30, 2015 – Regions, the academically-focused restaurant at Estrella Mountain Community College (EMCC), a Maricopa Community College, re-opens February 5 for the Spring 2015 semester. Open to the public, guests are invited to enjoy lunch prepared by students enrolled in the Culinary Institute, training for careers in professional food service. Lunch is served only on Thursdays and Fridays through May 7, 2015.
Since 2003, the college restaurant has been serving-up exquisite lunches at an amazing value. The cost for the full-course meal is $11.00, which includes tax, and all revenues are invested directly back into the program. The lunches often feature an appetizer, soup or salad, entrée, dessert and beverage.
Throughout the spring semester, Thursday service will offer a la carte American Regional and French menus, while Fridays will focus on themed buffet selections.
It is a favorite among community locals and every year keeps building a stronger word-of-mouth following. As one long-time patron said, “This used to be the best-kept secret in town, but now it’s a place you want to make sure you get a reservation, and that’s really exciting!”
Lunch service begins at 11:30 a.m. and reservations can be made online at [email protected] or 623-935-8396. The restaurant is located in Komatke Hall, building C, on the EMCC campus, at 3000 North Dysart Road in Avondale.
“Regions is an extension of our culinary classroom,” said Chef Steve Griffiths, program director. “The students enjoy applying their knowledge and skills in a real restaurant environment, and our guests get to enjoy a full gourmet menu at a great price.”
EMCC offers Certificates of Completion in Culinary Studies and Baking and Pastry, plus an Associate in Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree in Culinary Studies.
