West Valley Partners Invite the Community to “Summer Safety Saturday” Water and Safety Fair on May 3rd

AVONDALE, Ariz. - A safer summer begins with education and prevention. Learn how to keep your family safe at "Summer Safety Saturday," May 3, from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. at Loma Linda Park, 530 E. Loma Linda Blvd., Goodyear.

During this fun and informative day, participants will learn safety tips from experts, receive free health screenings and participate in games. This free information-filled day combines activities for children with training for adults. Safety information is being provided by Estrella Mountain Community College, the Avondale, Goodyear and Tolleson police and fire departments, Sun Health and Rural/Metro Corporation.

Many of the day's activities are centered around children. Free immunizations and car seat inspections will be offered from 9 a.m. - noon; an open swim will take place from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m.; and a free lunch will be provided for kids. In addition, children will learn safety tips from Safety Clowns and tour safety vehicles such as fire trucks, police cars and rescue helicopters. Water safety tips will be taught through a special workshop designed for kids, W.H.A.L.E. Tales (Water Habits Are Learned Early).

Adults can take a cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) class at 9 a.m. in the Goodyear Community Center, located on the park's premises. The cost is $10 and interested individuals may call 623.935.8400 to register.
