New Partnership Expands Educational Opportunities in the Northwest Valley

Avondale, Ariz. - Estrella Mountain Community College and the Dysart Unified School District have partnered to expand educational opportunities to the residents of the Northwest Valley. The college will begin offering noncredit courses through its Community Education program, Learning for Life, at the new Willow Canyon High School in Surprise, 17901 West Lundberg Street, (on Bell Road, west of Loop 303).

With classes like Basic Drawing, Writing Your Memoirs, Parenting the Young Athlete and Latin Dance, there is something for everyone, including children and seniors. Online courses, including Spanish versions, provide additional flexibility. Classes start October 21.

Learning for Life offers flexible and convenient noncredit courses designed to upgrade skills for personal and professional development. "The Learning for Life noncredit program fills a crucial need in the community for those who desire to continue to fulfill their personal and professional aspirations", said Kirsten Hall, Coordinator, Community Education and Workforce Development at Estrella Mountain Community College.

Estrella Mountain will eventually offer both college credit and noncredit classes at Willow Canyon. A schedule of credit classes is expected for Spring 2004.
