“Spinning” Classes Come to EMCC Fitness Center

The fitness craze commonly known as "Spinning", has arrived at the Estrella Mountain Community College Fitness Center. This instructor-led, indoor cycling class uses specialized stationary bikes and focuses on 35-40 minutes of different cycling speeds, intensities and techniques and 10-15 minutes of stretching and abdominal exercise. Invented in 1987 by world-class cyclist Johnny Goldberg, this form of exercise, when practiced correctly, burns fat, builds strength, increases cardiovascular health, and has even been known to tone muscles in the arms, stomach, legs and buttocks.

Two one-credit sections of Aerobic Cycling will be offered beginning January 26. Morning classes meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 8:15 a.m.; evening classes run Mondays and Wednesdays at 7 p.m. Cost is $56. Late starters are okay.
