Fitness Center Offers Hiking Excursions to Four Peaks, Granite Mountain Wilderness

If you, or someone you know, would like to experience the spectacular wilderness in Arizona, then you have a chance to do so through guided tours offered by the Estrella Mountain Community College Fitness Center.For the experienced and the unexperienced, these classes prepare you for backpacking and hiking excursions to some of the most beautiful wonders in Arizona. Registration is required in advance to obtain permits for the trips. Transportation to and from Estrella Mountain Community College is provided.Hiking in the Four Peaks Wilderness - This 8 mile hike, of moderate difficulty, offers spectacular views, photo opportunities, diverse plant life, adventure and folk lore. Located 21 miles north of the Fountain Hills area, elevations for the hike vary between 5700 - 6100 feet, with much cooler temperatures as altitude increases. Cost: $70; Date: Saturday, Sept. 25, 7 a.m.; Orientation: Saturday, Sept. 11, 10 a.m.Hiking Granite Mountain - This 8.2 mile hike, of moderate difficulty, offers cool weather on the outskirts of Prescott. Elevations for the hike vary between 5600-7185 feet. The Granite Mountain Wilderness, known for its huge granite boulders and interesting rock formations, is a prime location to view the natural beauty of Prescott.
