West Valley Sizzles With Gourmet Cooking Classes Taught by Local Chef

Estrella Mountain Community College, in partnership with La Joya High School in Avondale, is offering gourmet cooking classes, taught by the award-winning Chef Clay Moser of the Pebble Creek Country Club. The interactive classes allow participants to create their own culinary delights, while learning proper food handling techniques.Offered once a month through December, each session cost $39, with another $15 due on the first night of class to cover supplies expense. The classes will be held at La Joya High School, 11650 W. Whyman - on Avondale Blvd, south of MC85 - in Avondale.Gourmet Desserts (NC500-0552) - Impress your friends with gourmet chocolate mousse at your next gathering. Learn how to make classic gourmet mousses and fruit sauces. In addition, learn about the different types of chocolates and their uses. Students receive a professional quality pastry bag and spatula.Cost: $39; Date: Wednesday, Sept. 15; Time: 6-9 p.m.The Principles of a Filet Mignon Entr¨¦e (NC500-0553)-Prepare a filet mignon entr¨¦e from start to finish, including all side dishes (starch and a vegetable). Proper meat and side item handling will be taught, as well as garnishing techniques.Cost: $39; Date: Wednesday, Oct. 13; Time: 6-9 p.m.Preparing a Low Carb Entr¨¦e(NC500-0554)- If you're a health-wise consumer concerned about carb intake, learn how to prepare your own low-carb entrees, including side items, from start to finish.Cost: $39; Date: Wednesday, Nov. 17; Time: 6-9 p.m.Cost Saving Meat Cutting (Fabrication)(NC500-0555)-Transforming meat products into cuts that will be prepared and served, is referred to as "meat fabrication" by industry professionals.
