Community Calendar: NASA Center Hosts Family Night for Community

What:The NASA Center for Success in Math & Science at EMCC will host a family night covering topics such as getting ready for college and math and science education. The sessions, "Get Ready for College", "Financial Aid & Scholarship Opportunities," and "Science/Math Activities" will begin at 5 p.m., 5:50 p.m., and 7:50 p.m., respectively.In addition, a panel of professionals, featuring Julia Perez, an engineer with Motorola, and Alejandro Reynoso, President/CEO of AR Utility Specialists Inc. (ARUSI), will begin at 7 p.m.Where: Estrella Mountain Community College Center for Teaching & Learning (CTL) 3000 North Dysart Road, Avondale (corner of Dysart and Thomas Roads) When: Thursday, October 28, 2004 Program begins at 5 p.m.Why: The Nasa Center for Success in Math & Science at Estrella Mountain serves as the college's core driver for student success in mathematics and science. Committed to preparing students to take part in a knowledge-based economy, the Center assists in providing Arizona's emerging industries with a highly-skilled workforce. The college gained national attention in 2001 when it received a $2.2 million grant from the U.S. Department of Education to develop the center, the highest award granted to a two-year institution.
