ESTRELLA MOUNTAIN ANNOUNCES NEW PHARMACY TECH TRAINING IN SURPRISE, AZ Estrella Mountain Community College will now offer Pharmacy Technician training at its extended Willow Canyon High School location on Citrus and Bell Roads in Surprise, beginning September 13, 2005 through December 1. The program, which will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 6:30 pm - 9:30 pm, is the only of its kind in the far West Valley and will cost $915, including course materials. For students looking to train for a new career quickly, the pharmacy technician offers flexibility at a schedule designed to fit working adults. Students can register now at (623) 935-8888. ARIZONA'S ONLY SOURCE FOR RED HAT CERTIFICATION TRAINING CONTINUES AUGUST 20 Estrella Mountain Community College, selected in 2004 by Red Hat Linux to be its only site in Arizona for its Linux System Administrators Red Hat Certified Technician Program, will begin a new offering of courses for the technical training program on August 20, 2005. Red Hat Linux utilizes UNIX code and scripting and has been listed by a Dice.com study as one of the most valued skills by employers today. The classes, which prepare students to become certified Red Hat technicians, will be offered at a variety of flexible times and dates including weekends. For registration, call (623) 935-8888.FREE EVENING OSHA WORKSHOPS HELP KEEP WEST VALLEY BUSINESSES SAFE West Valley business owners and their employees can take advantage of a series of free OSHA workshops offered at the college as part of the Learning for Life Community Education Program. The OSHA workshops, which began August 25, will focus on a variety of workplace safety issues. The first free workshop, OSHA Hazard Communication, focuses on the OSHA hazard communication standard for employees whose job duties involve the use of hazardous chemicals. The workshop, first in a series of three, will be held on Thursday, August 25, from 5:30 pm - 9:00 pm, and is free of charge. To register, call (623) 935-8888. New course offerings include visual arts, including Two-Dimensional Design, History of Modern Art, and Mexican Art History, as well as music and dance, notably Modern Jazz Dance I, Survey of Broadway Musicals, and Survey of American Music, and also drama, including Acting I and II.
