"Thinking About Race, Gender, and Sexuality"A Student ConferenceHosted by Estrella Mountain Community College Avondale, ArizonaWednesday, April 19, 2006CALL FOR PROPOSALSWe are currently seeking proposals for presentation by students in the Maricopa Community College District, and we welcome submissions related to the broad theme of the conference, including the following topics:¨‹ Race, racism, and white privilege--what do these topics mean to you, and how should we think about them?¨‹ Women's issues, feminist theory and practice, masculinity-- how should we understand ourselves as gendered beings?¨‹ Gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, and intersex issues--how should we think about these identities?¨‹ Social justice, classism, ableism, and the intersections with race, gender, and sexuality.Presentation formats may include, but are not limited to: - Paper presentation - Round table - Poster presentation/workshop - Other formats welcome!In order to be considered for presentation, all proposals must consist of the following:1) A brief (200-300 word) description of your project, which explains the format (reading a paper, showing a poster, etc.) and title of your presentation.2) Contact information about the presenter: name, phone number, email address, mailing address, and the name of the college you are currently attending.3) Description of materials necessary for your presentation (white board, VCR, etc.).
