Total Success: Mind, Body and Spirit

In support of a healthy mind, body and spirit, Estrella Mountain Community College's (EMCC) fitness center has adjusted their fees to better serve its students and the community.

Compared to national fitness chains, EMCC's fitness center provides members with a more personal environment that is rich with learning opportunities including guidance from well-qualified instructors. These instructors will not only serve as what fitness chains equate to personal trainers, but as nutritional and wellness counselors.

Estrella Mountain's fitness center offers several activities in addition to workout facilities, such as cycling, kickboxing, Pilates, yoga, tai chi, and much more. Full-time students only pay $20-$80* per semester (4 months) for non-credit access to the center and community members pay only $92 each per semester for non-credit access. Corporate and family discounts are also available to the community.

Lyle Bartelt, Estrella Mountain's manager of fitness and wellness said that many students don't take advantage of elective credit fitness courses because of cost. The new non-credit fee schedule allows students to keep themselves grounded during the semester by not sacrificing their workout routines due to cost or time restrictions. This coming fall semester, the fitness center is open from 5:00 a.m. - 10:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 5:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m. Friday's, and 7:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
