Estrella Mountain Community College (EMCC), a Maricopa Community College, hosted its Eleventh Annual Scholarship Luncheon today in honor of 200 students who were awarded scholarships during the 2007-2008 academic year, and the donors who make those scholarship opportunities available to them. "Seeing the students and donors meet warms my heart," said Maria Reyes, director of institutional development and corporate relations.
The luncheon was held at 12:00 p.m. in the Estrella Hall Community Room where more than 100 guests gathered to honor students and donors. The scholarship awards illustrate the generosity of more than 90 donors including the West Valley View, Hispanic Leadership Forum and many other community organizations and corporations.
AnaEliza Gamez Alvarez, a 2nd-year student at EMCC who was awarded a $2,500 Maricopa Foundation Scholarship said, "This scholarship has given me a sense of comfort, knowing that I have complete access to an education. I am now that much closer to fulfilling my dreams."
