EMCC Selects a New Vice President of Administrative Services

After an extensive national search, the college is pleased to announce that Sue Tavakoli has been selected as Estrella Mountain Community College's new Vice President of Administrative Services.

Sue has been with the Maricopa County Community College District (MCCCD) for twenty years and has held various positions in District Human Resources and District Business Services. Her experience includes serving in diverse roles that involved the design, development and implementation of a wide range of financial, policy and administrative projects designed to support MCCCD financial stability, enrollment growth and community engagement.

Sue joined the Estrella Mountain family in December 2002. As the Director of College Business Services for Estrella, she has been responsible for planning, directing, implementing and evaluating the effectiveness of the College Fiscal, Business and Human Resources/Payroll Services. Sue also provided excellent leadership in financial planning to support the College strategic goals, directions and initiatives. As the Director of College Business Services, she led the EMCC Budget Development Steering Team (BDST) and is an active member of several college councils and advisory groups.

In addition to her daily responsibilities, Sue is actively involved in a variety of external and internal communities including: American Association of Community Colleges (AACC), Western Association of Community College and University Business Officers (WACUBO), Women's Leadership Group (WLG) Mentorship Program and the MCCCD Strategic Planning Steering Team.

Sue holds a Bachelor of Arts in Business Management from the University of Tehran & Iran-Zamin College and Master of Arts in educational leadership Northern Arizona University and a Professional certification from Academy for Leadership Training & Development.

She is looking forward to taking on the challenges associated with the role of Estrella Mountain's Vice President of Administrative Services and hopes to serve the college that has become her second home.
