Estrella Mountain Community College's SouthWest Skill Center (SWSC) has announced the hiring of its new Director, Katie Brocker. Brocker is returning to the college after serving as coordinator of community education, and fitness and aerobic technician from 1996-2002. Positions held since then include several in the healthcare industry, and most recently, business manager for the Indiana University Department of Medicine where she managed the day-to-day operations and business functions of a multi-disciplinary clinic and infusion center. Her past experience at Estrella Mountain, and recent experience in the healthcare industry, made Brocker an ideal candidate for director of the SouthWest Skill Center.

Programs currently offered at the SouthWest Skill Center are primarily health-related, but the Center is growing to include other community education and workforce development programs. Brocker will work to take the SouthWest Skill Center through its next stage of development by expanding current programs and community partnerships while exploring new options based on community needs. "I am happy to return to Estrella Mountain and am excited about my new role as director. I am committed to continue the growth and transitioning of the Skill Center to support the needs of the community and provide training solutions for those who are looking to find new careers," said Brocker.
