Estrella Mountain Welcomes Students Back to Campus during Welcome Week

Estrella Mountain Community College (EMCC), a Maricopa Community College, will welcome students back to campus with a variety of activities planned for Welcome Week, August 25-29, 2008.

Monday, August 25: Welcome back students! Today will be all about getting acquainted with the campus, your instructors and your classmates. Student ambassadors and Estrella Mountain faculty and staff will be available to help you find your classes and treat you to goody bags and a lively campus. There will be information tables set up near Ocotillo Hall, the Komatke Courtyard, and Montezuma Hall.

Tuesday, August 26: Today is all about fun. There will be free food for students and a caricature artist to draw pictures of you and your new friends in the Komatke Courtyard from 10:00 a.m. to noon.

Wednesday, August 27: Students, find out what clubs and organizations are available at Estrella Mountain for you to join. Tables will be set up from 10:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. in the Komatke Courtyard so you can explore the opportunities available to you. Latino Vibe will be on campus from 7:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m. and Student Life will be cooking free hot dogs for students from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. in the Komatke Courtyard.

Thursday, August 28: Beat the heat with a free bowl of ice cream today. There will be an Ice Cream Social open to students, faculty and staff from 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. in the Komatke C Student Lounge.

Friday, August 29: Today is movie day! Take a break between classes and catch a flick in the Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) from 10:00 a.m. to noon. Like any theater, there will be snacks available to students.

Haven't registered yet? There are still classes available! Classes start August 23, 2008 and late registration is open until Friday, August 29, 2008. Call 623-935-8888 for more information, or visit the college's enrollment services center to register in person. Registration is open to walk-in visitors Monday - Thursday, 8:00 a.m.-7:30 p.m., and Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. and Saturday (August 16 and 23), 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.. The college is located at 3000 North Dysart Road, in Avondale, on the northwest corner of Thomas and Dysart Roads.
