EMCC's SouthWest Skill Center Celebrates National Medical Assistants Week

Estrella Mountain Community College's SouthWest Skill Center will celebrate National Medical Assistants Week (NMAW) October 20 - 24, 2008 by offering free blood pressure and glucose checks on Monday, October 20, 2008 in front of the SouthWest Skill Center building located on the southwest side of the college campus at 3000 N. Dysart Road in Avondale.

Since 1984, American Medical Technologists (AMT) and others in the healthcare community have honored the vital role and the professional excellence that medical assistants provide in the delivery of healthcare to patients by celebrating National Medical Assistants Week. Estrella Mountain's SouthWest Skill Center currently has 54 students enrolled in day and evening programs and has been providing the West Valley with qualified, professional medical assistants since 2000. These students are encouraged to become registered medical assistants through AMT upon completion of the certificate program.
