Estrella Mountain Offers College Classes in Buckeye and Wickenburg

Estrella Mountain Community College (EMCC), a Maricopa Community College, is now offering college classes to residents in both the Buckeye and Wickenburg areas who want to get ahead with core classes that are needed to complete a degree and/or transfer to the university. The sixteen and eight-week sessions will be held at local high schools.

Buckeye
Testing and registration for classes in Buckeye will be held December 2 at Estrella Foothills High School, located at 13033 South Estrella Parkway, from 5:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.; and on December 13 at Buckeye Union High School, located at 902 Eason Avenue, from 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.. Classes will begin January 20 and 21 depending on location.

Classes offered at Estrella Foothills High School are as follows:

  • CIS 105; Survey of Computer Information Systems (3 credits); Hybrid format; Wednesday evenings; 6:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.
  • GBS 151; Introduction to Business (3 credits); Wednesday evenings; 6:00 p.m. - 8:40 p.m.
  • ENG 101; First-Year Composition (3 credits); Wednesday evenings; 6:00 p.m. - 8:40 p.m.Classes offered at Buckeye Union High School are as follows:
  • CIS 105; Survey of Computer Information Systems (3 credits); Hybrid format; Tuesday evenings; 6:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.
  • GBS 151; Introduction to Business (3 credits); Tuesday evenings; 6:00 p.m. - 8:40 p.m.
  • ENG 101; First-Year Composition (3 credits); Tuesday evenings; 6:00 p.m. - 8:40 p.m.
  • MAT 092; Introductory Algebra (3 credits); Tuesday evenings; 6:00 p.m. - 8:40 p.m.

    WickenburgTesting and registration for classes in Wickenburg will be held December 10 and 11 from 5:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. at Wickenburg High School, located at 1090 South Vulture Mine Road. There will be two, eight-week sessions.

    The sessions and classes offered are as follows:

    Session 1: January 20 - March 12, 2009

  • ENG 102; First-Year Composition (3 credits); Tuesday and Thursday evenings; 6:00 p.m. - 8:40 p.m.
  • GBS 151; Introduction to Business (3 credits); Tuesday and Thursday evenings; 6:00 p.m. - 8:40 p.m.
  • An additional math course will be offered based on the results of testing. The math course will be a 16-week course (January 20 - May 15).Session 2: March 24 - May 15, 2009
  • CIS 105; Survey of Computer Information Systems (3 credits); Tuesday and Thursday evenings; 6:00 p.m. - 8:40 p.m.
  • COM 225; Public Speaking (3 credits); Tuesday and Thursday evenings; 6:00 p.m. - 8:40 p.m

    Students will need to be tested prior to registration in ENG 101. Students who have completed ENG 071 with a grade of C or better are eligible for ENG 101 without testing. Students can call 623-935-8888 for more information about placement testing and to register.
