Estrella Mountain Community College (EMCC), a Maricopa Community College, will host a healthcare exploration event on Wednesday, April 29, 2009, from 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. at its Avondale campus, located at 3000 North Dysart Road, on the northwest corner of Thomas and Dysart Roads. The event will take place in the college's SouthWest Skill Center (SWSC) located on the southwest side of campus.
The event, which is free and open to the public, will allow students and community members to interact with healthcare professionals and learn about healthcare careers and the educational pathways to help them get there. There will be representation from several Maricopa Community Colleges that offer healthcare programs, as well as from the Phoenix Fire Department, Grand Canyon University, and University of Phoenix.
Other areas that will be represented include fitness, health and wellness; and counseling and social work. There will also be a financial aid/scholarship workshop where participants can learn more about financing their education and ways to overcome other obstacles to earning a degree and securing future career opportunities, as well as an open testing session from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. for any participants interested in registering for Skill Center programs.
