Where:
University of Advancing Technology; 2625 W. Baseline Rd., Tempe, AZ 85283

About the Avent Tech Games:
At the Avnet Tech Games, students compete in a game-like setting to gain hands-on and practical experience in addition to the academic curricula. To compete, students work with a faculty member to prepare for one of the following games:

-Accenture Green Data Center Challenge - teams develop and present a proposal to transition an aging legacy data center to a Green center.

-Build, Troubleshoot & Tune the Fastest Computer - teams will build, troubleshoot and tune a computer.

-Networking Within the Enterprise - teams connect, configure and secure a computer network to support a fictitious company's business demands.

-Digital Design Challenge - teams will create a digital design to achieve a specific set of criteria. Students will demonstrate their work as well as write and present a technical presentation.

-Patch Panel Madness - teams build a working data network in the fastest time possible.

-Project Greenlight - Solar Powered LED Challenge - teams design, build, test and present a solar-powered "Green Energy" lamp.

-Robot Race Obstacle Course - teams build a robot and maneuver around obstacle course.

-VMware Virtualization Challenge - teams complete the VMware VSP certification, produce a 3-5 year roadmap and create a virtual environment.

Scholarships and Honorariums:
There will be eight winning teams. Each student on a winning team receives a $1,000 scholarship and faculty members will receive honorariums. The scholarships and honorariums are in part due to the Carstens Family Funds' $50,000 donation. Avnet Tech Games also includes a networking hour where students meet with event sponsors.
