Estrella Mountain Community College (EMCC), a Maricopa Community College, will celebrate the academic accomplishments of Estrella Mountain’s Class of 2010 during its fourteenth annual commencement ceremony to be held May 14, 2010.  The ceremony will be held at the Goodyear Ballpark, located at 1933 South Ballpark Way, and will begin at 6:30 p.m.  The ceremony, themed, “Diverse Directions, Extraordinary Destinations,” recognizes the students receiving 554 degrees and 379 certificates in a variety of disciplines.

The student developed theme, “Diverse Directions, Extraordinary Destinations,” is symbolic of the diverse backgrounds of Estrella Mountain’s students, their diverse experiences at EMCC, but how they all share the extraordinary accomplishment of attaining their college degree.

EstrellaMountain Community College students, as well as students graduating from other Maricopa Community Colleges, leave prepared to transfer to a four-year university or to begin their careers with skills obtained through occupational-specific programs.  These achievements are recognized at the commencement ceremony.

This year’s program will include a welcome given by College President, Dr. Ernest Lara; a speech delivered by student speaker, Rain Moran; faculty comments by Dr. Sandy Zetlan, faculty senate president and biology faculty; a commencement address given by Terry Goddard, Arizona Attorney General; and a variety of student performances.
