EMCC's Regions restaurant opens August 31

Regions, Estrella Mountain Community College’s student-operated restaurant, re-opens Wednesday, August 31 for the 2011-2012 academic year. Community members are again invited to join students, faculty and staff for lunch "dining experience" at the restaurant located in Komatke Hall, building C, on the EMCC campus at 3000 North Dysart Road in Avondale. The cost for the three-course meal is $8.95, plus tax, and features creative cuisines with an array of dessert selections.

“The menus are impressive – and skillfully prepared and presented by our students. It’s a great dining experience for everyone,” says Lisa Vanbendegom, EMCC Culinary Lab Technician. “Plus, all revenues from Regions are invested directly back into the program, so it’s a win-win for our students and patrons.”

Regions is a college-operated restaurant where students enrolled in the Culinary Studies program have the opportunity to present their culinary talents. The program provides students with the skills, creativity and confidence for careers in professional kitchens and the food and beverage (F&B) industry. Students are exposed to varied American and international cuisines, baking and pastry arts.

Regions will be serving the lunches on Wednesdays and Fridays for the first eight-weeks of the fall 2011 semester, Aug. 31 through Oct. 17, and on Thursdays and Fridays for the second eight weeks, Oct. 27 through Dec. 9. Service begins at 11:30 a.m. with the last seating at noon. Reservations are required and should be made at least one week in advance by calling 623-935-8396, or visit http://estrellamountain.edu/regions for more details and online reservations.
