AVONDALE, Arizona – “Back to school” to-do lists and activities can be stressful, but Estrella Mountain Community College (EMCC) is offering personal interest classes that put the fun back into school for adults. Short-term, non-credit courses offer enjoyable, convenient and affordable ways to learn, without the stress of tests and grades.

The fall 2014 EMCC Community Education courses are now open for registration. Classes begin in September and run through December, with most classes scheduled on Saturdays and evenings to accommodate adult work schedules. Registration fees start as low as $32, and classes can vary from one to ten sessions, depending on course.

A wide range of topics and subjects include computer skills, photography, oil painting, stained glass, guitar making and playing, Spanish, Mahjong, financial planning, grant writing, and more. All classes will be held on the EMCC campus, located in Avondale at Dysart and Thomas Roads.

New this fall, Kids College will introduce a winter session called Winter Wonderland. The ever-popular Kids College just celebrated fourteen years of providing on-campus, “summer camp” classes during the months of June and July for kids ages 4-18. In response to eager requests from parents, a winter version was developed to offer Saturday classes during the holiday season, November 15 through December 20. Topics and times are currently being finalized.

“The Saturday Winter Wonderland classes will give parents some time for holiday shopping, while their kids are in a safe place, learning and having fun,” said Marcia Ford, EMCC coordinator of Community Education.
