AVONDALE, Arizona – Each semester, the Career and Transfer Center (CTC) at Estrella Mountain Community College (EMCC) has hosted a Job Expo to provide a professional venue for employers to connect with college students pursuing career information and opportunities. This semester, the CTC has opened up the playing field for both participating employers and for the EMCC students by offering an “Opportunity Fair,” on April 6, 2016.

“This year, we are mixing things up completely with a new fresh title,” said Izelle Silva, Coordinator of Student Services. “We wanted to create an event that’s even more engaging and relevant for everyone involved.”

EMCC is seeking businesses, companies and organizations of all sizes to participate in this vibrant exchange of employment conversations with students in vast array of career paths. The Opportunity Fair will provide students with the knowledge and connections available to them through internships, job shadowing, service learning (volunteer and community service), and full- and part-time positions.

“Throughout the year, we get many inquiries and requests from employers to tap into our pool of talented students for job-type opportunities,” said Silva. “This event provides an open, welcoming forum where they can actually come on to our campus, meet our students in-person and develop those unique connections.”

The Opportunity Fair will be held on Wednesday, April 6, from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m., on the EMCC campus, located at 3000 N. Dysart Road in Avondale. Vendor spaces are free and limited. The online application is available at www.estrellamountain.edu/expo, and must be received by March 28, 2016. For more information, contact [email protected] or 623-935-8220.

The Opportunity Fair will offer four zones for participating students to explore and learn, which include Employers, Linked-in, Dress for Success and Mock Interviews. If students visit all four zones, they will entered into a drawing for a free lap top computer. Free professional headshot photos will also be taken for students interested in posting in their Linked-in profile.
