Estrella Mountain has finalized an agreement with Ottawa University called the 3 + 1 Teacher Education Transfer Program which leads to an elementary or middle school teaching certificate. The program allows Estrella Mountain education students to accumulate up to 86 credit hours, and then transfer all 86 hours to Ottawa University. Students will then complete their final 44 credit hours with Ottawa University, on the EMCC campus. Being able to complete four years on the EMCC campus makes it very convenient for the student, not only for proximity, but also because the first three years will be charged at the MCCCD tuition rate and Ottawa University has guaranteed to match the lowest 4-year in-state tuition rate for 3 + 1 students for that last year of coursework. Ottawa University coursework will start this March, while third-year education coursework at EMCC will start fall 2008.
