Estrella Mountain Community College and the Southwest Valley YMCA have partnered to offer PED 115: Lifetime Fitness, to students. Lifetime Fitness is a 2-credit course that combines fitness activity and wellness study to help develop a lifetime of regular exercise, stress management and proper nutrition. Benefits to students who register for PED 115, held at the YMCA, are extended operating hours and a fitness membership with the YMCA for the semester. This membership provides access to the YMCA facilities and many of the programs offered at the YMCA. "The health and well-being or our students is important to us. This partnership provides opportunities for students to be physically active both on and off campus," said Lyle Bartelt, manager of fitness and wellness at Estrella Mountain Community College. Students can still register for the self-paced course by calling 623-935-8888. The college is located at 3000 N. Dysart Rd. in Avondale, and the YMCA is located at 2919 N. Litchfield Rd. in Goodyear.
