Estrella Mountain Community College will host a student panel and discussion on the topic "Evaluating Affirmative Action," on Wednesday, September 17, from 10:00 am - 11:00 am, and 11:00 am and 12:00 pm in the college's Center for Teaching and Learning. Free and open to the public, the event will include discussions on the bearing of race in collegiate entrance and employment selection, and the shifting trends in race relations since the enacting of the Civil Rights Act in 1964, and the birth of Affirmative Action in a presidential mandate in 1965. Both favorable and adverse opinions will be considered.
