Native American Heritage Month Celebrated at EMCC

Estrella Mountain Community College will celebrate Native American Heritage Month during the month of November with a series of events created to bring awareness to and in celebration of the national month of Native American recognition. The events are free and open to the public.

Wednesday, November 4: Kick-off event with award-winning performances by Randy Kemp, flutist; Derrick Davis, hoop dancer; and a guest appearance from Miss Hopi. Events will take place 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. in the college's Montezuma Courtyard.

Thursday, November 5: Film Festival; "PBS: We Shall Remain;" 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.; Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL)

Monday, November 9: Guest Speaker, Dr. Laura Tohe; 12:00 p.m. - 1:00 p.m.; CTL

Thursday, November 12: Film Festival; "Club Native;" 10:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m.; CTL

Monday, November 16: Native American Expo; Food, fun and artifacts; 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.; Komatke Courtyard

Tuesday, November 24: Discussion on Prisoner Leonard Peltier; 11:30 a.m.; CTL
