Kid's College Registration Now Open

April 08, 2011

Spark young imaginations and give children a place to express their talents, learn new skills and explore careers in an exciting campus setting. A variety of classes for young people from ages 4 through 18 will offer instruction in art, language, music and dance, science and engineering, child-care and babysitting and the culinary arts. Classes start at $49 and begin in June; register now! (Registrations will be taken from now until the day before classes begin, or until the class is full.)

Teens with a taste for cuisine can experience working in a commercial kitchen. The culturally inclined can study basic Spanish and German languages. Art classes will cultivate young imaginations through the exploration of various media, including watercolor, clay, jewelry and even natural materials such as gourds.

Dance students can learn dances seen on "Dancing with the Stars" and "So You Think You Can Dance.” Budding musicians can explore guitar or sing in an ensemble and as a soloist, and receive coaching and performance critiques designed to help them to grow and develop artistically.

Scientifically-minded children can indulge their quest for exploration by learning about the solar system and flight – and even participate in a rocket launch. Or they can experience physics, mechanical engineering, structural engineering, and architecture first-hand as they create their own designs and participate in competitions appropriate to their ability with LEGO™ components.

These are hands-on and minds-on classes designed to inspire and capture the attention of youngsters and to engage their natural love of learning and exploring new things. To enhance the Kid’s College experience, parents/guardians of younger students (ages 4-12) will be encouraged to escort their student(s) to and from the classroom, and to remain outside the classroom during class.
