"Concrete Kingdom" art exhibit bring the artwork of Thomas Breeze Marcus, Lalo Cota and Pablo Luna to EMCC. Their art can be viewed in the display cases located in Estrella Hall, Komatke A, Komatke C.

Marcus, Cota and Luna are artists living and working in Phoenix, Arizona. Their artwork is influenced by surrealism,  the Mexican mural tradition, graffiti , and HoHokam and Tohono O’odham crafts and design, in addition to their works on canvas, wood and "found" objects.

These artist are some of the leaders of the burgeoning mural scene in downtown Phoenix. They also support and showcase other local and regional artists in their gallery, Por Vida, located in downtown Phoenix.

"We are pleased to host a large selection of work by these important local artists," said EMCC art professor Jimmy Fike.


More about Phoenix born artist Thomas Breeze

Breeze began painting grafitti art in 1993. Having been brought up in two separate worlds (the city of Phoenix and the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Reservation), Breeze experienced the balance of struggles and triumphs in both environments. Through painting with aerosol in the streets of Phoenix at a young age, Breeze a bridge of inspiration to bring together two different styles of traditional and contemporary influences in his work.. Today, his art is a mixture of intricate abstract design work, inspired by graffiti art, as well as traditional Tohono O’odham basketry and ancient HoHokam (HuHugam) pottery designs.Breeze’s work continues to evolve, bridging his past to the present and growing into future. Aside from being a large scale muralist, canvas painter and traditional O'odham gourd maker.
