Nichols appointed to national computing board

Jim Nichols, faculty and Instructional Computing division chair at EMCC, has been appointed as an esteemed member of the Association of Computing Machinery (ACM) Committee for Computing Education in Community Colleges (CCECC). His term will be July 1, 2013 through June 30, 2014.

ACM-CCECC Board Chair, Dr. Elizabeth Hawthorne of Union County College in Cranford, News Jersey, stated that Nichols was invited to serve on the board in response to the valuable contributions he made while serving as an Associate Member and in recognition of the extraordinary skills and talents he demonstrated during his affiliation with the organization.

The CCECC is the standing committee of the ACM Education Board concerned with computing education at associate-degree granting colleges and similar post-secondary institutions throughout the world. The Committee advises the Education Board as directed on all issues concerning curriculum, pedagogy and assessment, and engages in advocacy and policy for this sector of higher education.

Nichols joins a very select and esteemed group of computing educators who have committed to fostering computing education in the communty college sector since 1991.
