The 2013 Honors Program Expo was held on Wednesday, Nov. 20. The Honors Expo gives EMCC Honors students an excellent opportunity to present their scholarly research in a formal academic setting. This is the type of event that university Honors programs or university scholarship committees view very favorably. There are three types of presentations: laptop, poster board and oral. Presentations were judged by a panel and scored based on a rubrics.
Here are the results of the judging of the presentations:
- 1st Place goes to Nathan Barba for his poster presentation entitled "Volumes of Solid of Revolution" in Ernie Chavez's MAT 230 class.
- 2nd Place goes to Kathy Decker, Deborah Kucera, Graciela Olivas, Tiffanie Sorrentino and Sean Tidmore for their poster presentation entitled "Social Media and Privacy" in Cheri Hebert's COM 230 class.
- 3rd Place goes to Jessica De Leon, Claire McNary, Marwa Al-Hassen and Lidia Yaqu for their oral presentation "Sexing Owls" in Rachel Smith's BIO 182 class.
Our top three presentation teams will now be heading to the Western Regional Honors Conference in Colorado to represent EMCC.
