AVONDALE, Arizona – Estrella Mountain Community College (EMCC) is encouraging the community to support a cleaner, more livable environment with its Campus Sustainability Day on Wed., Oct. 22, 2014.

The fair-like event will offer activities that are free and open to the public, from 9 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., on the EMCC campus, located at 3000 N. Dysart Rd., in Avondale.

Recycled Fashion
Buy or trade new or gently-used clothing that has been donated by faculty, staff, students, and community members. Fifty-percent of the proceeds and excess clothing will be donated to Goodwill.
9 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. – EMCC Ceremonial Plaza

Ban the Bottle
Trade in single-use plastic bottles for a reusable bottle that is sustainable, eco-friendly, and stylish. Opportunity to decorate and personalize.

The Sustainable Human
EMCC Fitness and Wellness will provide information and interactive experiences about exercise, nutrition, sleep, stress, & substance use/abuse.

An Apple a Day
Chow Locally will be offering a variety of healthy, fresh, ethically produced food at an affordable price. Chow Locally is an online marketplace that allows you to access the freshest seasonal foods grown by local ranchers and farmers.

Water in the Desert
EMCC Phi Theta Kappa Honors Society and guest speakers will explore and present water conservation topics for adapting to life in the desert.
9:00 – 11:00 a.m. – EMCC Plaza Gallery

EMCC certified Yoga Instructor, Cheryl Herzog, will offer two beginning yoga sessions. Bring a towel. Space is limited. RSVP to [email protected]
