EMCC's first Shakespeare Festival was a great success with over 180 high school students attending the plays and workshops on Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2105. The Theatre Program at EMCC was excited to host the Southwest Shakespeare Company, presenting excerpts from the famous plays, "The Comedy of Errors" and "Taming of the Shrew."

High school students, EMCC students, faculty and staff enjoyed the Company's professional and vibrant acting in an ampitheatre setting, which included costuming and props. After the hour-long performance of "Comedy of Errors," the high school students were ushered to the Estrella Conference Center for lunch and career panel. The students then had the opportunity of participating in an acting workshop with the Company's actors, followed by an 90 minutes performance of "Taming of the Shrew."

EMCC is excited to share the news to the high school students of the college's new Performing Arts Center opening in Spring 2015, perhaps encouraging them to consider attending EMCC after graduation. The Fine and Performing Arts Program at EMCC is positioned to become a hub of artistic for the West Valley communities.
