AVONDALE, Arizona – September 4, 2015 – Residents in Avondale are being invited to share thoughts and reactions at a community forum discussing the transportation needs and trends in the west valley.

The forum, facilitated by Arizona Town Hall and co-sponsored by Estrella Mountain Community College (EMCC) and the Maricopa Community Colleges District (MCCD), will be held at the EMCC campus on Tuesday, September 15, at 7:30 a.m., in the Estrella Conference Center. EMCC is located at Dysart and Thomas Roads in Avondale, Arizona.

Dr. Patricia Cardenas-Adame, EMCC Vice President of Student Affairs, will host the forum. Speakers for the program will be: Mary Grier, Attorney; Sintra Hoffman, Assistant Division Director, Office of Public Affairs, ADOT; Tara Jackson, President, Arizona Town Hall; Joe La Rue, Executive Vice President, Sun Health; Patrick McDermott, Community Affairs Manager, Arizona Public Service.

“The overall theme for each forum is exploring how the current transportation system is intimately interwoven and has impact on key factors such as the economy, jobs, community, health, lifestyle, education, housing and certainly, the environment,” said Tara Jackson, Arizona Town Hall President.

Jackson also emphasized that participant observations and recommendations are not in isolation.  Rather, they are part of a statewide collection of responses from other forums.  Responses will be summarized and distributed to Arizona Town Hall members, elected officials including the Arizona Legislature, public libraries, mass media, and to the general public.

To register, go online at www.aztownhall.org, or call the Arizona Town Hall office at 602-252-9600 for additional information. A complimentary breakfast will be provided by Chick-fil-A.

Arizona Town Hall Community Outreach Programs are supported by several partners, including: APS, Salt River Pima Maricopa Indian Community, Arizona Lottery, Freeport-McMoran Copper and Gold, Union Pacific, AECOM, Central Arizona Project, Epcor Water, and Snell and Wilmer LLP Law Offices.
