Dr. Tanisha Johnson-Maxwell named Dean of Student Services

Dr. Tanisha Johnson-Maxwell has emerged as the successful candidate for the Dean of Student Services at Estrella Mountain Community College (EMCC), one of the ten Maricopa Community Colleges.

Prior to this new appointment, Tanisha was the Division Chair of Counseling in EMCC Student Services. She transitioned into her new role on Sept. 14, 2015.

Tanisha has been member of the EMCC family for 10 years  in a residential faculty position. She also has 15 years of Student Affairs experience within the Maricopa County Community College District (MCCCD). Her educational credentials include a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from Arizona State University, an M.A. from the University of Missouri-Columbia in Counseling Psychology, and a B.A. in Psychology with a minor in Sociology from Arizona State University.

Tanisha will provide leadership for the following services / departments / initiatives:

Counseling, Career / Transfer, Advisement, Testing, Disability Resources, Veterans, Student Life / Athletics, New Student Orientation, Wellness, and Retention initiatives. 

Additionally, Tanisha will also work closely with Dean Laura Dulgar in the areas of student conduct and Title IX.

Dean Laura Dulgar will provide leadership for:  

Admissions and Records, Student Services at BEC, Outreach / Early College Programs, Financial Aid, International Education, Commencement, Student Conduct, Title IX, Student Services Compliance, and Enrollment Management initiatives.
