Do you know an Estrella Mountain Community College (EMCC) faculty member who deserves to be recognized for his or her innovative practices or projects that support student success?

What are you waiting for? Nominate that person for the first-ever Estrella Shines Faculty Award.

EMCC employees and students, as well as community members may nominate someone.

The nomination period opened Jan. 21 and closes Feb. 15. To nominate someone, click here.

The nominee should:

  • Demonstrate EMCC core values

  • Have a “wow” factor

  • Promote effective teaching and learning

  • Promote student success

  • Be relevant to his or her discipline and/or service to the college

Each nominee will be asked to submit an application that speaks to his or her nomination. Applications will be scored by a team of faculty peers and Learning Division staff, and finalists will be forwarded to Vice President of Learning  Dr. Rey Rivera, who will make the final selection.

The award recipient will be announced at the All Faculty meeting in May when he or she will receive the award, created in EMCC’s very own MakerSpace.

“My hope is that we recognize faculty who have positively impacted students through innovative teaching and/or programs,” Rivera said.
